As we wrap up Term 3, it’s a great time to celebrate all the exciting moments and achievements from the past weeks. From academic successes to sporting highlights and creative endeavours, our students and staff have continued to shine and show incredible commitment to learning and growth.
This term, one of our standout celebrations was seeing our students perform at the Primary Schools Music Festival held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Tuesday evening. Performing on this grand stage, with a choir of around 1200 children, plus a large troupe and student orchestra, provided a vastly different experience for our choir and their families compared to previous years at the Festival Theatre.
Earlier this year, Emilie and Annabelle successfully auditioned for the 2025 troupe, dedicating countless hours to rehearsals outside of school. Despite their busy schedules, they generously supported our school choir sessions along the way, while also performing with the troupe at every concert at the Entertainment Centre.
Our students’ choir performance was outstanding and an inspiring showcase of their dedication and talent. It was a privilege for our leadership team to witness the hard work and passion of our students come to life on such an impressive stage.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Josie and all the families who supported and guided the choir throughout the year. Your dedication has been invaluable to their success. Most importantly, congratulations to our talented students for their tremendous efforts and amazing performances. You represented our school beautifully, and we are so proud of you all.
Congratulations to the following phenomenal students:
The Under the Sea Disco was a wonderful success, showcasing the exceptional leadership of our SRC Executives who planned and ran the event. The day featured Junior Primary, Middle Primary, and Upper Primary sessions, packed with activities like musical statues, limbo, dance circles, and dance battles, ensuring fun for all year levels.
The SAC was transformed into a stunning underwater wonderland with fairy lights, disco lights, balloons, and creative coral made from pool noodles. A quiet corner with colouring sheets and earmuffs ensured the event remained inclusive and welcoming for all.
Special thanks to Louie, Steph, Lucy, and Tilo for their enthusiasm, effort, and teamwork, along with Ryan for his guidance and support. The event created lasting memories for our school community.
You'll hear more reflections from our students below!
Student Led Conferences
Last week, we held our Student Led Conferences, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their learning, growth, and achievements. Guided by their teachers, students reflected on their strengths and identified areas for development, setting goals for the future.
These conferences emphasised the importance of self-reflection and highlighted the ongoing evaluation and goal setting practices in our classrooms.
Thank you to all parents and caregivers who participated!
Little Leaves - Big Impact: Eden Hills Primary School
Thank you and congratulations to Melissa Burford who was successful in her grant application for the school through the Grassroots Grant project, Green Adelaide. The Grassroots Grants program supports individuals, volunteers, community groups and other organisations working on a not-for-profit basis, with local landscape management projects or events focusing on at least one of our regional priorities of water, sustainable agriculture, pest plants and animals, biodiversity and community.
In collaboration with the Green Team, we identified key areas where support would be beneficial. The grant will support the installation of watering systems in several locations across the school, as well as the purchase of new plants to enrich our school environment.
Thank you, Melissa.
School sports
As the winter school sports season comes to a close, it’s a great time to recognise the achievements both on and off the field. Students have invested time and effort, building skills like teamwork, perseverance, and collaboration while forming lasting friendships.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the parent volunteers who have contributed their time to coach and manage teams. Your involvement has been essential in providing these opportunities for our students. We are fortunate to have such committed support for our young athletes.
An updated sports policy is now available on our website for your reference.
Thank you all for your valuable contributions throughout the term and I wish you all a restful and rewarding break with your families and loved ones. We look forward to seeing you all when we return on Monday 13 October.
Kind regards, Kellie Bowden
Water Safety
At Eden Hills Primary School, water safety is an integral part of our curriculum for Reception to Year 4 students. Not only does it equip children with essential life skills, but it also provides them with a fun and exciting learning experience in and around water.
Our water safety program ensures children learn vital skills like floating, treading water, and recognising potential hazards in aquatic environments. These lessons not only support their physical development but also build confidence and resilience.
What makes this program truly enjoyable is the hands-on approach! Through engaging activities like water games, interactive instructions, and team challenges, students look forward to their sessions. These lessons not only teach safety but also encourage a lifelong enjoyment of swimming and water-based activities.
ABIG THANK YOUto the wonderful volunteer parents who supported our students while at the pool.

We went to swimming and it was really fun. My favourite activity was swimming with my head under water and looking at the coral on the bottom of the pool. Solomon
The best thing about water safety is that I can float on my back with a life jacket on. Evie

Room 11
On Wednesday 20 August, everyone dressed up as their favourite book character for Eden Hills Primary School book week. The Resource Centre team got to organize lots of fun activities. Jo set up a bunch of fun challenges for everyone from reception to year six to participate in. The Resource Centre team decorated fun, themed and intricate cubbies. From space to jungle the theme of book week was ‘Book an adventure’. The book week library session was dedicated to making tiles to stick on the cubby roofs. We voted on our favourite picture and young reader novels, then compared them at our book week assembly.
Everyone loved the teachers’ costume as they dressed up as tooth fairies themed on one of the children’s book council’s elected book. With all the different types of challenges like mazes, spot the difference, word puzzles and even guessing books inside suitcases, book week is always a highlight. The Resource Centre team, managers and especially Jo put in so much effort and are thrilled with the outcome. Annie, Emmie, Lucy and Steph.
Room 8
During book week all of the students dressed up as their favourite book characters for a magical day! Some classes spent the day with their buddies, making the most of this wonderful opportunity. Our class wrapped books and read to our buddies. Laura
Iris, Pixie and I were hole punching gum leaves for Jo as a job, not knowing why we were doing it. On Book Week when me and Pixie were sitting down the teachers went around spraying hole punched gum leaves as fairy dust. Estelle
Estelle, Pixie and I cut out leaves in interesting shapes. Then on Book Week dress-up the teachers used the cutout bits as fairy dust. Iris

Room 5 & 6 Planetarium Excursion
We sat in a seat and we looked up and the roof looked like space. I felt like we were in space. Eden
At the Planetarium I learnt that the sun isn't a lava ball, it is actually made out of plasma. Mars has a moon that is getting closer and closer to it. If it gets too close, Mars might rip it apart so that it would make rings around Mars. Ella
Yesterday we went to the Planetarium. Did you know that the sun is made out of plasma, not lava? And, Uranus has big blobs of ice. We watched a space movie and we went to the park afterwards. There was a flying fox and a sensory dome and slides. It was really fun. Scout
At the planetarium the lady called Mary taught us about the orbits of the planets and constellations (teapot and Maui hook). The Kaurna people believe the Southern Cross is an eagle’s claw. Ezra
We went inside the Planetarium and we went upstairs and it was so cool. It looked like we were in space. I saw the moon and the sun and millions of stars. Sadie
While at the Planetarium we saw how the planets orbit the sun and then we watched a movie and it was called The Great Solar System. We also got to see constellations, we saw a Teapot and Maui Hook and then we did art on our work. Elsie

School Disco
Well Done!
We raised $140.50 towards our Sensory Walk!
The under the sea disco was a joy filled, magical, and fun day. I believe that every student had fun. The day was run by us four SRC Executives. It ran like this; the junior primary disco in the morning, the middle primary disco after recess, then the final upper primary disco after lunch. Each disco had a range of fun activities including musical statues, limbo and a dance off. The SAC was beautifully decorated with fairy lights, disco lights, balloons and pool noodles for coral. Room 9 and 10 also kindly let us use their under the sea animals for our entrance way. In the corner of the entrance way to the SAC there was also a quiet corner where students could take a break from dancing if they were feeling overwhelmed or just tired and needed a break. The playlists where fun and uplifting with songs from K-pop Demon Hunters, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and many more artists too and of course we also had ‘Under the Sea’ from The Little Mermaid.
Steph - SRC Executive Room 11
I had lots of fun at the disco from running the event, to playing limbo with my friends. There were three discos this year. There was a junior, middle, and upper disco. Each of them was the same but a different structure. At the junior disco, we played musical statues, and we did a dance circle where each kid if they wanted to, got into the circle and danced. Then we would send the next group of kids in. At the middle disco, we did limbo and musical statues. Limbo was the favourite. At the upper disco, we did limbo and a dance battle. Lots of people had a go and it was a hard decision to pick the winner. We asked the class what their favourite things were and lots of kids said that it was K-Pop. All the kids got to choose the songs for the disco. Everyone said that the decorations were amazing, and they loved them. We borrowed Rooms 9 and 10 under the sea art, and they looked great. But everyone’s favourite thing was the stickers by far. We also had a craft corner for the kids who got overwhelmed. We had colouring in sheets and headphones for the kids.
Overall, the day was a smash.
Lucy - SRC Executive Room 11.
Room 4 - Disco
It was really fun at the disco because we danced and we had K-Pop Demon Hunter's songs. It was really good dress ups because I was the ocean and I was really calm and relaxed. Victoria.
One song was Soda Pop Demon Hunters and we danced around. There were lots of cool lights. Elijah

Thanks so much again to our parent volunteer coaches. We couldn't do it without you!
Speed Stacking Frenzy
Eden Hills has gone a little crazy for Cup Stacking! Sport stacking not only promotes physical fitness, but also academic learning. Students that sport stack on a regular basis have shown increases in test scores and levels of concentration. This is achieved by students using both their right and left sides of their brain. When students sport stack, they are crossing the "midline" of their bodies and developing new connections in their brains. These new connections help to spur brain growth which in turn promotes greater academic achievement.

Many of our students have asked me how they can carry on cup stacking at home, or perhaps even start competing in this exciting new sport.
Here’s how to order your set, and the best part is that 10% of all sales go back to Eden Hills for us to spend on our own equipment to keep here. Orders are available until the end of term. This website will also help you find competitor opportunities too.
In Week 6 Term 3, after several weeks of writing and practicing their applications, the following students were selected to represent their houses for Sports Day 2025!

Crochet Club
Our student-led crochet club has become a popular lunchtime activity, inspiring creativity, teamwork, and mindfulness among our students. As their skills grow, so does their need for supplies!
To keep the momentum going, we are seeking donations of yarn in any colour. Whether you have leftover yarn from past projects or would like to gift a new bundle, your contribution will help provide students the materials they need to continue exploring their creativity.
Donations can be dropped off at the front office or at Room 7.
Thank you for supporting our wonderful students and their endeavour to learn, share, and create!
Possum Rescue at Eden Hills PS
Last week, our schoolyard became the site of a heart-warming wildlife rescue. During lunchtime, a young baby possum (joey) was discovered on the ground. Concerned for its wellbeing, we promptly reached out to a native animal rescue service, who quickly came to its aid.
The rescuers identified the joey as a male and safely cared for him. Later that evening, around 9:00pm, they returned to our school to attempt a reunion with the mother. Standing by the tree the joey had fallen from, the rescuers played a recording mimicking the calls of a joey in need.
We’re delighted to share that their efforts were successful! The mother possum responded to the call, came down, and reclaimed her baby. It was a truly touching outcome and a reminder of the importance of caring for the native wildlife around us.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the rescue team for their swift and compassionate work. Their dedication ensured a happy ending, and the joey is now back where he belongs, in the loving care of his mother.
This event has sparked many questions and conversations among students, offering a wonderful opportunity to learn more about native wildlife and their protection.
Check out the video below of the reunion.
Lost Property
Lost property is growing very quickly. It is helpful when items are clearly named. Don’t forget to name clothing which may be removed (e.g. track tops, track pants, hats, jackets) as well as drink bottles and lunch boxes.
We have a large number of unclaimed items, even items left over from water safety week. Please make sure you check the rack outside the Office before the last day of term.
Last Day of Term 3
Reminder that the Last Day of Term 3 is an Early Dismissal
With the conclusion of the Netball and Soccer season, it’s time for Cricket to take centre stage!
If you’re interested in playing Cricket or would like to join the ‘Come & Try’ sessions for younger students, please register now.
Basketball
Additionally, we are seeking students in Years 3–6 who are interested in Basketball to help boost team numbers for Term 4.
We’re also calling for a parent volunteer to run the ‘Basketball Come & Try’ sessions for Reception to Year 2 students. These sessions will not only introduce the sport to our youngest students but also help them develop the foundational skills needed to succeed at the competitive level from Year 3 onwards.
Remember, for this to run, we need parent support in roles such as Coordinator, Coach and Managers. If this is something you can volunteer for, please indicate on the form when registering your child!
Lunch Order Volunteers Needed!
We are currently seeking volunteer helpers to assist with lunch orders and would love your support! Some of our wonderful volunteers are no longer available, and we are looking for new parents/caregivers who can lend a hand.
Helping with lunch orders is a great way to get involved in our school community. The role is straightforward and the time commitment is flexible. Whether you can assist weekly, fortnightly, or even once a month, your help would be greatly appreciated!
