6 December 2018
It is amazing how quickly a year passes by, it certainly has been a busy and productive year. There have been a lot of success stories both collectively and individually to reflect on and certainly foundations to build on in 2019. Whilst this is our final newsletter for the year, there are still some things to be completed before the year is done including the concert, end of year excursions and year 7 graduation.
Classes for 2019 are very close to being finalised. Many hours of work have gone into creating the lists and we have endeavoured to meet as many requests as we could. At this stage not all staff have been appointed for next year so some lists may have ‘unknown teacher’ on them if they haven’t been confirmed by mid-week 9. We will be running 11 classes next year with Japanese being taught from the OSHC room four days a week and music two days a week from the STEM room. PE will be taught three days a week and hopefully drama will be taught two days a week as well. We will be having a 30 minute class changeover session in the afternoon of Wednesday 12 December where students will meet their new classes. Reports will be sent home on that day along with a notification letter of the new classes.
As always we have a number of staff members who will be leaving at the end of the year. Hopefully, some of the people who have contracts expiring will return in 2019 and we wish them all the best. We do have two staff members who have contributed much of their life to educating young people and to Eden Hills Primary School. Angela Hills and Craig Garrard will be retiring at the end of this year. Simple words cannot do justice to the contributions made by Angela and Craig over their careers but we wish them all the very best for the next stage of their lives and thank them dearly for their work and the difference they have made to so many in the Eden Hills Primary School community.
Thank you and good luck to all of the students and families moving on from Eden Hills Primary School. To all of the students in reception to year 6 who are moving to new schools and to the year 7 students who are starting high school in 2019 we know that your new schools will be delighted to have you and we trust that you will have continued success. Thank you for being part of our community and we wish you all the very best for the future.
Have a very happy and safe holiday break and we will see you back on Tuesday 29 January.

Obento Master Workshop
On Friday 23 November, eight Year 5 students attended an ‘Obento Master’ event run by the Japanese Language Teachers of South Australia. Students learnt about Japanese lunchboxes, made posters using dried seaweed, designed and created their own lunchboxes using a wide variety of ingredients, and of course ate what they had prepared! Skip, Tehya, Ryder, Rosie, Lucy, Oliver, Elliot and Laszlo from Rooms 7 and 8 did a fantastic job representing our school, and came up with some very creative and delicious designs. Ryder and Skip received 3rd prize in their group, while Rosie and Tehya received 2nd prize! Congratulations to all the students for their fabulous behaviour, effort and creative skills.
