Welcome to a new year at Eden Hills Primary School, with a very special welcome to our new families. We are really excited for the learning year ahead.

We have had an increase in enrolments so this year will be starting with 11 classes across the school, with Japanese, PE, music and performing arts as specialist subjects. We have all of our staff in place and have once again developed teams to work in. Congratulations and welcome to Jake Burfitt and Matilda Garrard to their first official teaching roles at Eden Hills, and to Kendra Sherrah who joins our SSO staff.

Congratulations to Kellie Bowden on being appointed to the teaching and learning coordinator position for 2019. Kellie will be part of our leadership team and will work in her coordinator role predominantly on Wednesdays. Jade Tobar will be teaching room 6 on those days.

Ainslie will be managing the SRC at both the school and executive level and the SRC will be established by week 3 of the first term.

Josie will be managing the junior and festival choirs as well as year 3 recorder.

We are fortunate that some of our SSO staff have teaching degrees so can work in dual roles.

Governing Council AGM

The Annual General Meeting for Eden Hills Primary School Governing Council will be held on Wednesday 20 February at 7.00pm in the Resource Centre. We invite all parents to play an active part in the school and the Governing Council is a great way to be involved. We meet twice a term to discuss the broad direction of the school including policies, strategic direction and finance. If you would like to nominate for the Governing Council, we invite you to complete a nomination form and attend the AGM. The term for a position on the Governing Council is 2 years. If you are an existing Governing Council member and your 2 year term is expiring, you must nominate to be considered for election. A reminder letter with nomination forms will be sent home before the AGM.

Resource Centre News

Welcome to another wonderful year of reading!

Here’s how we work:

  • All students have a weekly borrowing and browsing lesson
  • We are open from 8.30am for before school borrowing and until 3.30pm for after school borrowing
  • We are open at lunchtimes too for reading, browsing, relaxing, playing board games, colouring, crafting, Lego club, chess club

  • Parents/caregivers can borrow books for pre-school siblings. Come on down and we will set you up with a borrowing number
  • There is an adult free little library (open 24/7) just outside the Resource Centre entrance
  • We have a Coffee Corner which is open before and after school and whenever the Resource Centre is not being used by a class. Just look for our open sign outside the front doors. Tea and instant coffee free, brewed coffee $1


Our school uses Schoolzine to communicate and inform our school community of events and information. We have consolidated all aspects of communication with a new school website established and maintained by Schoolzine.

Schoolzine is mobile friendly, accessible on all devices and provides seamless integration with the Eden Hills Primary School newsletter. It accesses online forms including absentee lodgement and a dynamic calendar including events RSVP.

Payment of Fees

The office is open 8.30am - 4.00pm each day for payment of fees. Pay your school fees from home! It’s easy! Why not try our secure online payment system Bpoint. Go to the link below and follow the links.

Preferably try Qkr by MasterCard. It can be downloaded for free from Apple’s app store for iPhones (iPads should download the iPhone app) or from Google Play for Android phones and tablets.

After downloading the app and registering, simply select Eden Hills Primary School from ‘Nearby Locations’ on Qkr or type EHPSA after tapping the magnifying glass in the top right of the home screen of Qkr. The app will then always recognise you as part of the school making future payments even easier.

You can pay all your School fees, Aquatic fees, Camp fees, OSHC and Vacation Care payments right now using Qkr, so why not download it today and take a look at our school on Qkr!

Duty of Care of Students before 8.30am and after 3.30pm

Parents need to be aware that staff yard duty does not commence until 8.30am each morning and finishes at 3.30pm each afternoon. If your child needs to be at school outside these hours they must attend Out of School Hours Care (OSHC). See OSHC staff for details and registration forms.

Bushfire Safety

Our Emergency Action Plan Policy is available on the school website below. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with it. Our school will only be closed on a day when the CFS declares a day of catastrophic risk in the Mount Lofty Ranges area. Families are reminded that they should discuss their own bushfire action plan with their children.

We also remind you to complete the Emergency Collection Authorisation form that was posted to all families. After an Emergency event, students will only be released to previously named authorised adults unless a written note is sent to school, on the day, naming a different adult. A phone call will not be accepted as authorisation. It is vital that all contact information is up to date.

Lunch Orders

Ordering Lunch Orders is done via Qkr this year. Login to your Qkr app, select Canteen and follow the prompts. You will find the menu and can make your selection. Make sure you update your child’s profile with the correct year level and classroom number and please be advised that the daily cut off ordering time is 9.15 am.

The Blackwood High School Canteen, where all the lunch orders are made, would happily welcome volunteer help on any given day for as little or as much time as you can provide. If you can help please contact Louise Williamson, Canteen Manager via email Williamson@bhs.sa.edu.au.

Student Absences, SMS Messaging and Attendance Update

Parents are asked to notify the school via text on the following number 0427 016 460 or by using the Schoolzine App by 9.00am if your child is going to be absent or arrive after 9.00am.
Please note we are no longer using skoolbag.

We are continuing to use the electronic roll marking system and if your child is marked as an unexplained absence you will automatically receive a text from us. If your child is late or leaving early you must sign in or out in the Front Office.

School Photos

School Photos will be taken at our school on Tuesday 19 February

MSP Photography will be taking our school photos. Parents can still send cash to school in the envelope which will be sent home with your child prior to the day. The envelopes need to be sent to school with your children on the day of the photos. Family envelopes will be available from the front office.

However online ordering is also available. As well as being quick and easy, online ordering closes after photo day allowing extra time to make your purchase (Check the online close date on the printed envelope for actual close date). Family packages can also be ordered online.

In 2019 the range of options available to you online has increased. As well as the option to download a Low Resolution image for a smart-phone, parents will have the option to purchase a High Resolution Digital Download of their child’s image.

MSP now offers a 10% discount for all family orders above $90.00 a family. To take advantage of this offer when ordering online, orders need to be processed as one payment or, if enclosing cash in the supplied envelopes, simply apply the 10% discount manually and enclose the correct money minus your discount.

Student Medication

Please remember that any medication sent to school for children to take throughout the day, even on a short term basis, must be accompanied by a medication form that is obtained from the doctor. Class teachers and the office staff are not allowed to administer any medication without written instruction from the doctor. Also, all medication should be taken to the office at the beginning of the day for safe storage.

School Banking

School Banking is on Tuesdays and will start Week 3. If you are interested in establishing an account for your child/children or have any queries please contact the front office.

2019 Polar Saver Rewards

Students can redeem 10 silver Dollarmites tokens for a Polar Savers reward by completing a redemption slip and returning the whole slip with the student’s name and banker ID on their School Banking day.


The Eden Hills Primary School Playgroup is starting again this Friday. Playgroup runs most Fridays during term time from 9.00am - 10.30am. It is held in the school’s Resource Centre and is suitable for children aged 0-5 years. Entry is a gold coin donation and a piece of fruit to share during story time. Espresso coffee is available for $1.

Each week, Playgroup focuses on a different theme, providing a range of activities that allow parents/grandparents and caregivers to interact and strengthen attachments with their young children, and to share the experience of learning through play.

Open to everyone, the Eden Hills Primary School Playgroup is a great place to meet other families from the community in a welcoming and friendly environment.

Pedal Prix

This year’s Pedal Prix team held our first fundraising event for 2019. We ran a Bunning’s BBQ on Australia Day at Marion and had a very successful day raising over $1000, which will go a long way towards maintaining the ‘Speed’n Eden’ vehicle and much needed equipment. Thank you to all the school community who came down and supported us.
